The map search functionality to add location awareness to Apple Wallet can be made more accurate by allowing location access. If Location Access is allowed, this means that your location can be passed to Apple’s search services powering the location lookup, and it can show you more relevant results, as well as your location on the map. Without this, the functionality still works, but the search may be less accurate as Apple guesses where you are, and it typically is only country accurate, and may show results from the wrong city or even state if not specified in the search. This location access is only used for this purpose. Your location is not tracked, shared or stored, and never leaves your device. You can opt out of this feature entirely if you’d prefer not to even see the toggle, in Advanced > Location Access.
